- The Plan: I'm flying to Sydney, Australia on Jan. 5 to meet my brother Dane, who flew out with his girlfriend, Tanya, in December. Tanya is finishing up her nursing degree with a practicum in Adelaide. The Goal: Dane's bought a Commador station wagon, compete with a bed. The tentative plan is to drive up the Gold Coast and work on our surfing skills until Tanya is done school. My close friend, Evan, lives in Melbourne and in February I hope to spend some time with him. The Blog: A place for me to document all findings, observations, ridiculous and unbelievable occurences. The Financial Situation: Pretty tight. Most of my prior travels have been in developing countries where a dollar goes a long way. Australia will be a bit different :) What I Hope Will Happen: As always, travel and the inevitable encounters with new cultures and people will change my views as a person. For better or worse, I believe travel is a necessary aspect of life as a human being. I have been blessed with the physical and financial means to embark on this journey and I intend to fulfill my dreams of exploring all that the world has to offer.
